A new recruit is needed to take on one of the highest profile jobs in Bristol - as director of the £500 million Cabot Circus.The Bristol Alliance wants someone with the right credentials to oversee the business management of the giant shopping centre.
The successful applicant will be in charge of 30-50 members of staff and will need to start soon as they will need to deliver the project as well as operate it.
He or she will have to do plenty of meeting and greeting in their new role and become well-known to the project's key stakeholders, if they are not already.
The Bristol Alliance said the salary is to be "competitive" and that the new centre director will work alongside the manager of Broadmead shopping centre, John Hirst, and his team.
Bristol Alliance spokesman Rob Graham said the position had been advertised in national and trade press as well as the Evening Post.
He said: "We are looking for a high-calibre individual for a centre director.
"They will help us to deliver the scheme and make sure it is properly managed in the future.
"It's not someone who will be involved in an operational level - it will be more strategic. They will help create a vision for Cabot Circus.
"The person will do a lot of meeting and greeting and will be an ambassador for Bristol as well as for the scheme."
Mr Graham said the job would not be an easy one and its pay would therefore reflect that. He said: "It will be a massive responsibility.
"This person will be directing a pretty key bit of business for Bristol so we will be offering a salary that is competitive.
"This person will have to understand the scheme and make sure everything works before we get our first customers - that could mean making sure ticket barriers work correctly, to ensuring staff are motivated and ready for customers to arrive.
"We are looking to make Cabot Circus as successful as possible by attracting as many visitors back as we can and making sure they enjoy themselves when they are here - so the person will have to run a very a tight ship."
Mr Graham said the Bristol Alliance was still receiving applications and people have until mid-May to apply.
The £500m shopping centre is due to open in September 2008 and comprises a 1m sq ft retail and leisure area, including:
A four-storey, 170,000 sq ft flagship department store, to be occupied by House of Fraser and a 37,000 sq ft store in Quakers Friars, to be occupied by Harvey Nichols.
A 100,000 sq ft Cinema de Lux with 3,000 seats in a 13-screen state-of-the-art complex.
Fifteen major stores and more than 120 new shops, 20 of which will be restaurants and cafes.
More than 2,600 car park spaces as well as new cycle routes, bus and coach stops.
New dedicated public spaces, including an open square around the refurbished Quakers Friary buildings, featuring shops, restaurants and residential apartments.
A 120-bedroom hotel and 280 student bed spaces, in a 103,000 sq ft development.
